Ocean of Wisdom ()
Guidelines for Living
by Tenzin Gyatso, the Dalai Lama (1935-)
This book contains the Dalai Lama’s 1989 acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize, some of his advice for increasing human happiness, and a set of questions and answers from his lectures before American audiences. A very interesting collection of material to examine from the memetic point of view.
His statements, though obviously derived from Buddhist principles, are framed in such a way that Americans without such a background can listen to (most of) them, and think about their practicality without too much interference from religious principles.
